The building work was undertaken in several phases and started sometime during the 1650s.
ASPE FOOD MARKET

HIKING
THE WATER ROUTE
The Aspe Water Route highlights the beauty of the arid landscape of the province of Alicante. You will pass through beautiful small canyons with multicoloured walls, wooded patches of pine trees, areas of scrubland and the course of the Vinalopó river, completely taken over by reeds before becoming the old Elche Reservoir. It is also a memorable walk through the history of the area, passing by aqueducts created 200 years ago to carry water through the fields and villages of the area, ruins of mills and houses and old market gardens that have now been abandoned. Not forgetting that you will be able to see the del Río Castle in the distance (if you have the time, you can even take a detour and climb the hill from which it dominates its ancestral possessions).
THE TARAFA RIVER TRAIL
This route allows you to discover the Tarafa river system as it flows through the town of Aspe. The starting point of the trail borders the La Romana district on the Rollo road. Here, the Alcaná area forms a sedimentary plain determined by the contributions of the surrounding reliefs and the deposits of the ravine. This is a traditional agricultural area where you can still see a number of typical farmhouses. The route continues along the Aljibe de los Moros path, from where you can visit the restored hydraulic infrastructure of Arab origin that gives its name to the path. From here, the Rambla de la Alcaná and the El Romeral paths are followed.
